Is evolution scientifically motivated??????

During the research on my Intelligent Design and Evolution project, I came across OU's Zoology Department statement on evolution. And, of course, the zoology professors at OU denounced any type of supernatural influence in scientific pursuits. For supposedly totally objective investigators, doesn't excluding possible explanations introduce bias? Anyway, that is not my point here.

Upon reading the notes of the OU Faculty Senate Meetings of September and October, 2006, I found that the Zoology Department was seeking the Senate to endorse the statement. For the journals, go here: Sept 06 journal Oct 06 journal

During the discussion,
"Prof. Kutner commented that in order for the statement to have any effect beyond the academic and scientific community, the point at the end [of the statement] should be emphasized – that our children are not getting a first-rate science education – and that has consequences. "

If this is truly a statement on science, then why exactly should the statement have an effect beyond the academic and scientific communities??? Could it be that there is an extra-scientific agenda afoot???

Evolutionists have consistently screamed for religion to be anned from the classroom, and have succeeded. They insist that religion is an individual's pursuit and should kept inside of the church, and that it should be segregated from science, and politics, and public discussion. Should religious believers likewise insist that all scientific pursuits, including evolution, be kept in the laboratory? By resticting science to the lab, it would be kept out of religion, politics, and public discussion.

Now here this...now here this...Christians are not anti-science. The search for truth is a multi-faceted endeavor, and we should use all of the tools at our disposal: good science, good philosophy, spiritual inquiry, the study of history, etc. If there is ultimate truth (see the voyageministries blog), then it just makes sense that aspects of the truth will be found in all of these areas.

Signing off for now...
